Seeds of Remembrance

Honoring Veterans by Maintaining Commemorative Plaques and Trees Along Historic Route 66

Veteran Marker Locations

The Route 66 Veterans Living Memorial Corridor is a poignant tribute born out of the dedication and vision of a local non-profit that took root in 2017. This heartfelt project aims to honor veterans by planting memorial trees in key locations along Route 66, creating living memorials in Barstow, Victor Valley Fairgrounds (Victorville, CA), San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, and Upland. Each tree represents a symbol of gratitude, remembrance, and a living legacy of those who have served our nation.

Trees for Valor

The Initial Vision

The project was initiated with the noble idea of planting memorial trees, each dedicated to veterans, creating a living memorial corridor along the iconic Route 66. However, the ground memorial markers, designed to accompany each tree, faced challenges. Theft, exposure to the elements, and natural wear and tear rendered them non-visible, diminishing the impact of these honorable tributes.

Continuing the Legacy

With the gracious approval of community leaders in the locations where these living memorials stand, our initiative is to build upon the foundation laid by the initial non-profit. Despite their finalization of involvement, we are committed to preserving and enhancing the hard work they began. Our goal is to ensure that these living memorials become more than just plantings along the route; we aspire for the Route 66 Veterans Living Memorial Corridor to be a prominent stopping point for travelers and a lasting testament to the sacrifices made by our veterans.

Addressing Visibility Challenges

Understanding the challenges faced by the ground memorial markers, we aim to overcome these obstacles. Our project involves the installation of additional markers that rise above ground, providing a noticeable and enduring honor to the veterans. These new markers will withstand the elements, ensuring that the recognition of our heroes remains visible and undiminished.

Community Support and Blessings

We are grateful for the support and blessings of the community leaders in Barstow, Victorville, San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, and Upland. Their endorsement of our endeavor speaks to the shared commitment to honoring veterans and preserving the legacy of the Route 66 Veterans Living Memorial Corridor.
